A message from the Chair
What a fantastic Duxday 2026!
A special thank you to everyone who came along despite the heat. With temperatures soaring throughout the day, it was wonderful to see so many people out enjoying the event and helping to create such a fantastic atmosphere. The free children’s entertainment was a real hit, so a massive thank you to the DCC for their generous donations which helped make this possible.
Despite the soaring temperatures, spirits remained high throughout the day. We were especially impressed by the winner of the ReJenerate’s Longest Plank Competition, who somehow held on for an amazing 7 minutes – we’re exhausted just thinking about it!
We’ve received nothing but positive feedback from the groups and organisations that attended. Many have raised valuable funds, increased awareness of their causes, and some have even recruited new members. That’s exactly what community events like this are all about!
We’ve shared some photos from the day – thank you, Siju (Sijuwade Adeniran, our photographer on the day – and, if you have any pictures you’d like featured on the Duxfest website, we’d love to see them. Please send them in via www.duxfest.co.uk.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to our stallholders, performers, volunteers and everyone who helped organise, set up and clear away. Events like Duxday simply couldn’t happen without you.
Can you help make Duxfest 2027 happen?
Duxfest is run entirely by volunteers and, while our events continue to grow, our committee doesn’t. We’re a small team and we’re always stretched on event days, so we’re looking for more people to get involved.
In particular, we’re currently looking for a Committee Secretary. You don’t need any special experience – just a bit of time, enthusiasm for our village, and a willingness to help keep us organised. It’s a great way to get involved in the community and help shape the events that bring Duxford together.
We’re also looking for volunteers who can help on the day, assist with planning, fundraising, social media, sponsorship, or simply lend a hand when needed. Whether you can spare an hour or take on a regular role, every bit of help makes a huge difference.
The reality is that without more volunteers, events like Duxday become increasingly difficult to deliver. If you’ve enjoyed Duxday and would like to help ensure Duxfest 2027 can happen, we’d love to hear from you.
Please get in touch – even if you’re not sure how you could help, we’d be very happy to have a chat.
Thank you again for supporting your community.
Best wishes,
Lizzie and the DCC Events Committee
