Discover What’s on Your Doorstep at Duxday 2026
Saturday 11 July, 2pm–5pm | Duxford Community CentreEver wondered just how much is happening right here in our village? Duxday 2026 is your chance to find out.
Planning is well underway, and the response from local clubs and societies has been fantastic. With 23 groups already confirmed, and more joining all the time, the range of activities on offer proves that Duxford truly has something for everyone. Whether you’re looking to try something new, get more active, or simply meet your neighbours, this is the perfect place to start.
Car Boot Sale Update – A quick correction from last month’s Chatterbox: pitches for the Car Boot Sale are £15 each. There are still spaces available, so if you’d like to clear out some clutter or sell a few hidden treasures, please email us to secure your spot.
Get Creative and Connected – For makers, crafters, and music lovers, there’s plenty to inspire you. Come and see the fantastic work from Duxford Art Group, Duxford in Stitches, the Scrapbooking Group, and the WI. If you’ve ever thought about learning an instrument, the Saturday Music Workshop team will be on hand to help you take that first step.
Roots, History and Heritage – If you enjoy the outdoors, learn how to support local green spaces with the Friends of Green Spaces. The Duxford History Society will also be sharing fascinating insights into village life over the years—including a surprising tally of how many pubs Duxford once had! You can also find out more about St Peter’s and St John’s through the Friends of Duxford Churches.
Growing Up in Duxford – Families will discover a welcoming support network. Meet Tiddles, the Parent & Baby Group, and the Creation Station for early years activities. Looking ahead, Pre-school, DX (our afterschool club), and Duxford Youth Club will be available to share what they offer for older children and teenagers.
Sports, Fitness and Fast Races – Feeling active? Try ReJenerate Yoga for balance and flexibility, or find out more about Let’s Run Girls, who meet every Sunday morning at 8:30am. The Tennis and Bowls Clubs are also keen to welcome new members. For something a little faster-paced, the Soapbox Derby team will be signing up brave racers for this year’s event.
Village Icons & Big Plans – We’re delighted to host the Chatterbox team—keeping the village connected since 1979. You can also meet the Duxfest 2027 organisers, who will be looking for volunteers to help bring the next big village festival to life.Free Fun (But still bring some cash!) – Entry and Children’s entertainment are completely free, including face painting, the Gladiator Duel, Nerf range, football cage, and Beat the Goalie challenge. Many groups will also be running their own fundraisers, so it’s a good idea to bring some cash for raffles, tombolas, and stalls. Plus, the wonderful Cafe 19 & Saffron Ice Cream will be there selling treats, and we’ll be running a refreshments stall to keep you cooled down!
Get Involved – Events like this rely on fantastic local volunteers. If you have a bit of time to spare and would like to help on the day, we’d love to hear from you.Get in touch: duxfestcelebration@gmail.com https://duxfest.co.uk/
